DAC I). Consultados éstos no - aceptan. It is not yet fully defined; it is estimated that he wants to skip the Army's role in the coup. The proposal sion of this defender, of documentary evidence is directed in this sense to show that... a large part of the command of the III R.M. and from the DAC they had to have been processed, when, in reality, only against those belonging to the Civil Guard. Declaration of the Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Spain (Marxist-Leninist) About the process of 23 The process that opens in Madrid on February 19 to judge some of those responsible of the attempted fascist coup on February 23, 1981, does not, in our opinion, meet the conditions essential to judge with the minimum guarantees, neither the facts nor all the protagonists and visible and hidden perpetrators of the coup. Due to the complacency and complicity of the Government and the timid tolerance of the parties of the parliamentary opposition, our country has lived for exactly twelve months, not only under the threat of poisoning and death from rapeseed oil, but also of fascist coups. ta, this last threat having been used as an instrument of the Government to justify so much the impunity of the civil and military coup plotters who did not openly show their faces but who, many of which are known, such as the delay of a year in putting the coup plotters and their followers on trial. accomplices (It should be remembered that in 1930, under the monarchy of Alfonso XIII, the republican captains Fermin Galan and García Hernandez were tried and shot within a period of just 48 hours for 'having tried to revolt in favor of the Republic in Jaca). This has allowed the entire network qolpista take a whole series of measures to hide and do. disappear a good part of the threads of his conspiracy and rebuild the image of many of the accomplices. For all this, it is evident that the Government itself is responsible for the fear that the trial of 23-F is going to be a farce, widespread among broad sectors of public opinion, both in Spain. like abroad. Our Party fully shares these fears in light of the circumstances in which it will find itself. develop this process. The justification of the coup invoked as a mitigating factor by the defenders of the coup plotters due to the “anar- quia and political disorder?’ as well as the calls for informative self-control of the press on the process, coincide with the Army's apology and respect for the past that the king himself made on two occasions at the end of the year, as well as tolerance and understanding towards the Armed Forces In general, despite its Francoist origins and nature, Now, who are today, like last February 23, the Army chiefs called to defend democracy and the freedoms and independence of Spain? The biographies of Francoists and pro-Nazis of the new heads of the Unified General Staff Board, JUJEM, are an example of the Francoist and pro-Nazi career, training and ideology of most of the generals and middle managers of the current army, which according to the same Constitution is called to “defend the democracy and national independence”, As an example, we point out that Lieutenant General Lacalle Leloup, participated as a volunteer in the Blue Division at the service of Nazism. He is a member founder of the magazine “Fuerza Nueva”, and was part of the Founding Board of that fascist party directed by Blas Piñar. His close friendship with Mr. Calvo Sotelo, current president, is public knowledge. government faith. As for Saturnino Suanzes, Admiral, current Chief of the Army General Staff, mada and JUJEM, is also a Francoist who has always and for years been linked to the ser- training vices of the United States Army, On the other hand, the chiefs and senior officers who are part of the Court in the 23-F process They have, for the most part, the same antidemocratic and Francoist trajectory as the four new heads of the JUJEM, It is equally scandalous that the only nine civilians called to testify in the trial cess and who appear in the Prosecutor's accusation of 23-F are people who could be classified as comp- Persians, including the ultra Juan García Carres, elevated to the category of figurehead of the coup plot. civil trail to better hide the real civilian figures. You add the murky attitude of the government in relation to those involved in the assault on the Central Bank and with those responsible for the criminal poisoning by rapeseed oil, are other elements of judgment. that corroborate the lack of guarantees for the 23-F process to clarify the entire coup plot. ta and condone all the coup plotters and their accomplices as they deserve, Me at The Communist Party of Spain (Marxist-Leninist) considers that the fight for democracy and freedoms for the people, as well as the defense of the few democratic rights taken from the reactionary power continuing Francoism, urgently demand in the current situation: 1. That all the threads and all military and civilian persons be revealed to public opinion 1 involved in the coup of 23-F and in other activities of a coup nature. s 2, That the ranks of the Armed Forces be purged since the chiefs and officers -of fascist ideology and militancy, formed by the Franco regime, they cannot and should not be in charge to constitutionally defend our national independence! nor democracy. The same thing applies In the case of the Civil Guard and the different services of the Police, which has been educated in the idea- Francoist lodge and formed to repress democratic rights and freedoms. The Communist Party of Spain (Marxist-Leninist) puts the working class and all popular forces against the danger for the immediate future represented by the attitude of the media officials, starting with the government itself and also the leaders of the PSOE and the PCE who They claim that the coup plot is limited to a handful of soldiers and a few troupes civilians, Such an attitude leaves the ground and the hand free so that at any moment in which the con- together with the oligarchy and the reactionary power, they deem it necessary and appropriate, it happens again this time better prepared, a new February 23rd. * | s + Only popular mobilization and united and combative struggle in the street with the formation of groups > anti-fascists, anti-imperialists against the coup, demanding the purging of the Army and the police Mine v in favor of an authentic democratic, popular and republican regime, will be able to close the passage and leave with blackmail Bel coup and the very causes of the coup. 1 Madrid, February 12, 1982. and Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Spain (Marxist-Leninist), | | | Headquarters: +] I know c/ FREEDOM,7 -32 must.
