No fué a relevarle. +. . 3.1.

The Park's normal service was not interrupted. - To Mr. Esquivel (Gómez Iglesias): In the Park there is a con- fairly strict control of vehicles and people, although it is possible can be avoided. It is not true that Tcol. Tejero will convince him - to announce a weapons magazine in the 2nd Company, because it was - planned. He doesn't know if it happened. He had not mentioned in his first - statements to Cap. Gómez Iglesias to not involve more people you. But when you see: he gave only, and he is free ba the aforementioned Ca: sorio in his performance, He decided to name him when he met him. Ad! 2.2. Prosecutor's interrogation of Tcol. Weaver: In it, which lasted more than three hours, the Tcol. ha made an exposition of his entire performance, highlighting in his responses you have the following data He had been thinking about taking over Congress for a long time, and - He was happy that they counted on him to be part of an Operaz large-scale National tion. It was well received by the 3% Military Region. On January 18th I had all the preparations made. That day, at the meeting on General Cabrera Street, he was - ordered to leave said Operation "frozen", pending the "so "Armed Lution". : At said meeting, General Torres Rojas arrived saying that - Colonel Sanmartín would have the DAC ready to put it on/ his Orders, although Tejero admitted that he could have inter-/ wrong In it, it was strongly insisted that it would be an operation "to - the Turkish one." The next day he was taken to the surroundings of the Cuzco hotel. whose surroundings were practically "taken over" by guards/ in civilian clothes From there he was taken to the apartment on Juan Gris Street, that describes. There he spoke alone with General Armada, who confirmed that It was a National Operation, under the King's Orders. Although he doesn't like the King, he joined the Operation because he - They assured that in contacts with abroad (USA and - Holy See), the coup would be better accepted if the Coro- na. Armada assured that he would be in the Zarzuela, next to the King. He insisted that it be a bloodless operation. I always know spoke of Military Government. On Juan Gris Street, the consiana "Duque de -/ Smoked". +. He was told that the Chief was General Armada, and for the details The tactical decisions would depend on General Milans of Bosch. . He explained the entry into Congress in the well-known way, justi aiming his shots to intimidate. + He wanted to shoot Lieutenant General Gutiérrez Mellado to demonstrate bring his authority at that moment to the guards, although/ He's glad he didn't fall. + General Aramburu did not pressure him to withdraw the guards. Nor did any Chief of those who entered Congress. + He did not hear the real message, he did not know it. - Capt. of Navío Menéndez did not put himself under his orders nor did he try take away control. - Cte. Pardo had a passive attitude. I didn't go to relieve him. +. He did not pay attention to General Sabino Fernández because he did not know him. . The General Armada proposed a broad-based Government, for/ which did not allow him to enter the chamber. That's why he told him -/ "Call the King or he will call you", but he did not agree because he thought that the King could be coerced or even kidnapped. The Te-/ General Milans supported the Armada, so he sent out this one. - The document with the conditions for departure has no value for him. What is valid is the word of the Aramburu Generals and/ Navy that had been promised non-responsibility of the - Lieutenants. 23. Interrogation of the defender himself, Mr. López Montero: He has limited himself to making clear the arrests suffered by the -/ Tcol. Tejero in Guipúzcoa and Málaga, and to make it clear that his de-/ fendido is present of his own free will, since it is offered to him-/ He gave him money and a plane to go abroad. 2.4. He has not made clear the dates on which the meetings were held. niions of the «Biarritz and Pintor Juan Gris streets, having been/ pressured by the lawyer. to make it concrete. 3.- COMMENTS ON THE STATEMENTS. . 3.1. From Colonel Spotted: | It's been calmer than yesterday. It has made a better impression and His statements have sounded more convincing. He has tried to prove that he only knew that it was an operation 'the order of the Authorities (today it has not referred to the King). He has given excessive importance to the intervention of Cap. Church- sias, endorsing Tcol, Tejero. He does not acknowledge that meetings have been held in his office -/ preparatory. He has left Mr. Esquivel in a bad light, by insisting on this letter in which said Officer should have been discharged from the CESID. He has also confronted him, supported by the lawyer Lépez/ Silva, regarding the expression "complementary guarantee", which/ He said he didn't understand. It provoked the President's call to attention. to the lawyer.Mr. Esquivel. He has tried to demonstrate that some Captains, and all Te-/ people did not know their mission, limiting themselves to fulfilling the asses of the Civil Guard Regulations, which he cites. 3.2. From Tcol. Weaver: He has remained calm, collected, with an air of smugness. He has tried to demonstrate the great involvement of Gómez Iglesias/ and Cortina, in addition to Generals Milans and Armada, as guiding thumps. As far as possible, he has tried to exonerate Colonel Manchado and Ca Pitán Abad, whom he convinced with great effort. He has stressed that he is not a monarchist, he does not like the King, although/ He accepted it as the only solution. He has also broken a spear in favor of the rest of the accused,/ downplaying his action. He seeks the exculpation of the Lieutenants, based on the word of General Aramburu more than in the signed document. He emphasizes that he has been deceived from the beginning, by not speaking- the real Government to propose. SL 4.- OTHER FACTS AND COMMENTS Public attendance has increased, especially due to the Nana. Practically 100% in public and 70% in the press. Mr. Esquivel, defender of Captain Gómez Iglesias, has been heavy and annoying. He has clashed with other defenders and with/ the President. Mr. Ortiz (Lt. Izquierdo) has tried to know if there was on the record a protest of his from the 10th, for which the The President of the Court has had numerous interventions, cutting off all types of controversies as soon as it starts. He called the attention four times to Tcol. Tejero, one to Messrs. Hermosilla; Ortiz y Quintana and six to Mr. Villalonga, who was trying to prolong garner his intervention seeking a postponement until the following day you. The main incident took place when Mr. Quintana, of-/ defender of General Torres Rojas, when his turn came, said: "Co- My former Officer and great lover of Spain, I want, above all, show my respect and congratulations to Tcol. Weaver..." The Presi-/ dente quickly cut him off, although this gave rise to applause from - the family members present. The President. He addressed the lawyer telling him that, in his condition as such, he should know that he had to/ just ask. And perhaps it was not opportune to assure that he he knew less about law than the lawyer and was in that position performing a delicate task, so I begged him not to do it. was more difficult. Both at the afternoon and morning departure, the Tcol. Knit ro has been highly congratulated by his colleagues and lawyers. Between -7 the family members' signs of satisfaction with the way in which said Tcol had behaved. By the end of the afternoon, however, the comments had - seen extinguished by the incident caused by Mr. Aguilar, who It is not the subject of this note.
