Eleven lawyers have intervened, refraining from interrogating six others, it being noteworthy that These include Mr. Esquivel, defender of Cap Gómez Churches. The contributions made by Tcol Tejero are of little relevance cia highlighting only the following statements: = Does not practically know the Civil Guard Officers who accompanied him, except for Cap Muñecas whom he met in the "querra de las Vascongadas" and he is sure that, except Cap Abad, the only thing he knew was that they were going to a service ordered by the Authorities. - The "real" message to Cte Pardo was not extended to the Civil Guard. - The telephone conversations, which had been cut off outside Congress, were reestablished during the - time that General Armada remained inside, - He did not make it clear when he met Tcol Ibañez. - There was a great "communion" between his men and those of the DAC. - The apartment on Pintor Juan Gris Street could have been a "pre- stopped." - The intervention of the Civil Guard Lieutenants was so irreconcilable raise like that of those belonging to the DAC, so - By judging them, article 14 of the Cons is being breached. titution. 2.2. Interrogation of Tcol Mas Oliver by the Prosecutor. He made a re- complete account of his participation in the events, deserving -- Among all the above, the following should be noted: - At lunch on January 10, they were alone, during about two hours the Generals Armada and Milans del Bosch. This The latter told them at the end what had been discussed and that they agreed coincides exactly with what was stated by Colonel Ibañez in his statement of the 15th, he has only added that the group of Lieutenant Colonels was a violent group, and did not mitfan to Generals. Also, like Colonel Ibañez, has stated that he has not spoken in other statements, of = this meeting "because they didn't ask" - General Cabrera was not present at the meeting on Calle General Cabrera Mr. García Carrés, who had arrived there "by chance." Lieutenant General Milans of the Bosch had an incident with him di- saying that the meeting was only for military, so - had to leave the apartment, - The phrase by Lt. General Milas referring to persecuting the -- that they violate the secrecy of the meeting was aimed, rather than to protect the operations processed there, to protect some -- opinions expressed by the Kings, which should not be known cides - Lt. General Milans did not want to know the details that tended to give him Tcol Tejero on how to take the Con- return. - He did not hear anything specific about the intervention of the DAC, to the Choir- in San Martín. He does not know what General Torres was doing there Reds. - Confirms the three visits of Colonel Ibañez to General Arma- da. - On the 20th a link called him saying that there was a Cte who he was "pushing" Tejero. On the 21st at 11:00 a.m. - Tomorrow they confirm that it is Cte Cortina. - He has ratified, almost with the same words, he states it- by Colonel Ibañez regarding the three conversations held on the 21st and 22nd between Generals Armada and Mi Bosch lans. - He barely knows anything about the 23rd. He did not attend the meetings, no He collaborated in the drafting of the Bando nor in the Orders “+ ~~ He limited himself to passing the King's calls to his General. Tampo- 5 knows much about the "manifesto" of the Congress, which was read by telephone by Mr. García Carrés. LABS Interrogation of Tcol Mas by the defenders. S610 He has been interrogated by 13 defenders, the only thing worth highlighting is comment the following answers: - To his own defender.” No relevant response. - To Mr. Escandell.- On one occasion he heard Colonel Pardo from - Santayana, tell Lieutenant General Milans del'Bosch, on behalf of General Armada, who had to reconsider his position and think So it all started on February 23rd. He also claimed to have heard General Caruana, after - to try to stop General Milans, say on the phone - to the Military Governor of Castellón: "You don't obey anymore ~ orders than those of your Lieutenant General". - To Mr. Hermosilla.- He has only specified details that had already been «told to the Prosecutor, as if the secret of General Ca- Brera obeyed not to reveal what was said by the Kings, or the co theft of telephone calls referring to the Cte - Curtain. - To Mr. Caballero.- On the night of the 23rd to the 24th, no note was taken of all the phone calls that were made. ~ To Mr. Segura (Dolls).- Nobody told him that the King would support the operation, but he did know about it. Believe that all - Authorities thought the same, and that's why it doesn't surprise them -- that a Cap believed it. (The Prosecutor, at this point protested - because they did not ask for opinions on what third parties thought. sonas). - To Mr. Griño (Ramos).- He is not aware that any Authority - military or civilian opposed the Lieutenant General in Valencia Milans del Bosch, nor is he aware of any report on - possible criminal attitude of the Civil Governor or the Mayor, nor that they have been prosecuted. 254 Interrogation by the Prosecutor of Cte Pardo Zancada. Has made a - very detailed exposition of all his participation in the he--- chos, which lasted two and a half hours. As notable things It is worth noting: - In the call of Tcol Mas to go to Valencia on the day 22, said Tcol tells him to notify Colonel San - Martin. General Milans told him that it was only a question of ner the situation to the King's Orders, to redirect it. What was interesting about the DAC was the control of RTVE and the - stations. But no orders were given for this. He was told that neither the other Captains General, nor the Ge Juste and Saez de Santa María knew nothing, although "they would add up.” ¥ Already in that first meeting, General Milans of Bosch gave him said that General Armada would be President of the Government and the Milans himself President of JUJEM. And in the same too Cte Cortina was cited as an intermediary between Tejero and the Army General. The Lieutenant General was interested in me hearing the conversation-- tion with General Armada, who narrates in the terms already known. The details up to the return of General Juste are similar. xes to what was narrated by Colonel San Martín. As soon as he finished making his presentation to the Commanders of the DAC, General Juste said: "Well... then go ahead." And =~ He practically took over. It was never intended that General Torres Rojas would take the -- command of the DAC, but to promote the General's action = Juste. - Before the seizure of Congress, the reaction was one of joy in -- the offices of the General Headquarters, and when the order was given to withdrawing the units the feeling was one of disgust and "see- generalized glenza", and they obeyed, although with reluctance. Before leaving with the column for Congress, he was informed-— _nic6 to Colonel San Martín. He did not tell the Capitanhes where they were going until they were-- They saw in the cars, outside the premises, He had no problem getting to Congress and entering him. Once inside he had no active participation. No one from his column attempted to leave Congress, although, - If he had tried, he would not have consented to it. He was the one who wrote the Congress manifesto, helped by Ca Milo Menendez. It is not true that Tcol Tejero did it. He did not accept the message that Colonel San Martín brought him, -- although I was sure that it was of royal origin, for not include the Civil Guard. Only by reading said message you - He realized that he did not have the support of H.M. ~ Does not consider the document of conditions other than as a reminder. He always believed that the Te- nientes. He does not understand why the Tcol Teje did not include them. ro in its conditions. - Finally he accepted that he had acted voluntarily, that he had fringed with his departure ls Quartering Orders, sa- ber that he had interrupted a constitutional act. 2.5 Interrogation of Cte Pardo by his defender. The pre questions have been few, highlighting, among what was said by the - Cte, the following: - He accepted the mission because he wants the best for Spain, because Lieutenant General Milans of Bosch asked him, because the King wants it too, and because he supposes that the King wants - for Spain the same as him, (The President of the Court told him caught attention). - He always obeyed General Juste, until 11:00 p.m. - The Congress manifesto was not a proclamation to move - wills, but only explanatory of their actions. 3.~ COMMENTS ON THE STATEMENTS 34 L,= The morning press has been at 75% and in the afternoon at - 30%. On the other hand, family members and committees continue to be almost 100%...There has been the case of some people who have been at the door since 9:00 p.m. yesterday to be able to enter. There have been no incidents with the return of Miguel Angel Aguilar which has been very discreet. Generals Toquero and Urrutia - They urged journalists and commissions to avoid altercations. The actions of the Prosecutor, within the delicacy with which he acts, tua is neither incisive nor deep. It does not give the sensation of searching for pabilities, but rather of seeking clarification strict examination of the facts, as an Investigating Judge could do tor. The attitude of respect and consideration of those of defenders, in general, towards Tcol Tejero, which markedly They call you "my Lieutenant Colonel" whenever they address him. The attitude of Tcol Tejero has been similar to that of yesterday, sufi cient, dominant and eager to take center stage. Tcol Mas, at times, has been pedantic and even somewhat insolent answering the defenders, which has caused - The President will invite you to moderate your expressions. The Cte - Brown, calm, serene, convincing, giving a feeling of honor radez, convinced that his position, perhaps somewhat studied, convenient Even the Prosecutor has told him twice: "And I - I think, Commander." At the end of the statement, Cte Pardo approached him Tcol Tejero and made some observation that seemed Z.E. imply that he was not satisfied with something that was stated ted. Mr. Salva (Alvarez) has said: "The greatest exponent of all of the military virtues is, by Decree, the Generalissimo Franco. Did you have the same motivations that you had 61 in - 1,936?".- The President vetoed the question as "impertinent", doing the same thing when the defender did another in similar terms thousands. It is noteworthy that Mr. Novalvos (Boza), at the end of his in- intervention, he emphatically asked the Tcol if he swore by his Nor than Cap Gómez: Iglesias introduced him to Cte Cortina, and that it was this Cte that took him to General Armada. The Tcol - Tejero responded with energy that he swears. President of the Court indicated to the Rapporteur that such oath - It should not be recorded in the minutes, which caused a slight discussion between Defender and Prosecutor, which the President cut.
