,, THE ROLE OF THE JUJEM IN THE POLITICAL~MILITARY CRISIS 1- THE CAUSE OF THE CRISIS 1.1.- The publication of the Judgment has caused: - Political reactions (both from the executive and the oppo sition)- or - Interpretations of diverse critical appreciation in the M.C.S. and - Military corporate rejection of such reactions and interpretation tations. 1.2.- The JUJEM, which, as the leadership of the Military Command until now, has had evaded any opinion at the trial, he is finally forced to to be shown for the first time and it does so with a note after which suggests a great dilemma with an urgent solution. His role at the head of the FAS. must be defined in one of the two interpretations that underlie the background of the pr~ or blerna of Cause 2/81. The interpretation of article 8Q. In this sense, JUJEM must assume one of the following these attitudes: a) They are the apex of a corporation with institutional power tional. b) They are the link between the only power, the political, and the force, the FAS. . ... .... // ¡ • ., .// •••• - 2 - 2.- THE CONSEQUENCES 2.1.- If the JUJEM decides on solution a) it must be considered aware that it would cause the following consequences: . It will provoke a direct confrontation with the civil power that, in analogy with Primo de Rivera's historical solution - will put pressure on the King. . The King does not seem inclined to adopt the same solutions as his grandfather. () . The JUJEM would find itself with a more serious dotavía dilemma, confront the King. 2.2.- If the JUJEM decides to adopt solution b) it must face a difficult and historic role that would require: . Assume your dependence on civil power and make it explicit which would close a historical cycle. . Exercise your double capacity, persuasive and commanding, to have be obeyed by the FAS in the name of the King. u 3.- CONCLUSION The JUJEM must: 1) Know how far this alternative can take you. 2) Know that, because the solution is a) absurd, it has no more remedy than to adopt solution b) even if he disagrees. 3) Be able to assume, with sensitivity and energy, the command of the FAS.
